Moscow Hosts Meeting of the Steering Committee of the UN Global Compact Network Russia
On February 29, Moscow hosted a regular meeting of the UN Global Compact Network Russia dedicated to development vectors and forthcoming events of 2016. It served to present and approve a plan of activities of the UN Global Compact Network Russia, sum up the results of the presentation of the Russian network of the UN Global Network at the Business Council of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and to listen to participants’ reports.
Traditionally, ACIG played an active role in the discussion with Alexander Plakida, Deputy Chairman of the Board of ACIG and member of the Steering Committee of the UN Global Compact, acting as the Company’s key delegate. In an official interview given for a video-presentation of the UN Global Compact Network in Russia Alexander Plakida told about the role of cooperation between ACIG and the Network and jointly achieved results of 2015. Alexander said that in 2016 ACIG Group of Companies intended to expand its external relations with the Network members and continue implementing the UN Global Compact principles in the Russian business practice. “Every business should contribute part of its energy and time to support the major principles it believes in”, Alexander Plakida emphasized. For ACIG participation in the Global Compact Network is precisely such an area of activity that without a direct commercial element creates a platform for communication with like-minded people and conditions for the synergy of best practices and ideas.
A separate subject discussed was the set-up of a specialized association that would be established within the framework of the UN Global Compact Network Russia as a non-profit organization. It is aimed to bring together Network participants to facilitate promotion and implementation of responsible business practice principles. Important work to form major areas of association’s activities was carried out throughout 2015. ACIG is actively involved in the development of the organization and ensures complete legal support of this initiative.
