ACIG takes part in the Conference “Attracting Foreign Investment in Advanced Technologies for Fossil Fuels Use”
On November 14-15, 2012, the Conference “Attracting Foreign Investment in Advanced Technologies of Fossil Fuels Use” took place in the city of Almaty, the Republic of Kazakhstan, under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
The government officials of the ministerial level from nine countries – Central Asian countries, India and the People's Republic of China – and more than one hundred specialists from the leading investment banks, development banks and technology companies took part in the conference.
The Conference participants exchanged their experience in attracting foreign direct investment and discussed how to strengthen public-private partnership in the field of environmentally friendly energy production.
ACIG representatives took part in the Conference upon the invitation of the sub-regional UN ESCAP division. Their presentation contains the following idea – “We recognize the importance of the energy sector for sustainable development of Central Asian countries because the access to modern energy services contributes to poverty eradication, saves lives and helps to meet the basic human needs. Sharing the initiatives of the Secretary General of the United Nations Organization, consolidated in the outcome documents of the RIO+20 Conference “Sustainable Energy for All” and “The Future We Want”, ACIG is always open to expert dialog and practical steps, as required by the unprecedented cooperation level, to achieve the goals declared”.
