The UN ESCAP Forum on Sustainable Development
This year, from May 19 to 21, a high-level political meeting is held – the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). Achieving the Millennium Development Goals and charting the way for an ambitious post-2015 development program have become the main agenda of the meeting. The UN ESCAP Executive Secretary Shamshad Akhtar invited the experts of the ACIG Group of Companies to participate in the event.
During the plenary sessions of the Forum, the political leaders of 67 countries, philanthropists and members of international community shared their vision of regional prospects, while focusing mainly on the issues of integrating the three main components of sustainable development. Within the framework of these sessions the participants reviewed the present condition of interregional processes and discussed the prospects of establishing a meaningful and comprehensive cooperation between the Countriesof theAsia-Pacific Region in order to provide sustainable and dynamic development.
