Russian APEC Study Center together with ACIG started the work on the project in the context of preparing for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum in 2012
In 2012 Russia took over chairmanship the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum. Under commission of the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Igor Shuvalov (minutes of February 18, 2011) Russian APEC Study Center was enacted to organize and hold a series of meetings on priority areas of the Russian chairmanship in the APEC Forum in order to discuss possible theses of chairmanship.
In the course of implementing this task a series of events in the of round tables, scientific seminars, reviews and discussions on the APEC agenda and corresponding issues in order to facilitate Russia’s chairmanship in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum. The main topics for discussion will be key areas of the agenda within the priorities of chairmanship, announced by Russia: trade and investment liberalization, facilitating business development; regional economic integration; strengthening food security; establishing supply chains and intensive interaction for innovative growth.
It is planned that the representatives of Federal executive and legislative authorities, leading Russian experts and scientists, specialists from research and educational institutions, and heads of big companies in different sectors of economy will participate in the Forum events.
The events will be organized by: Russian APEC Study Center, the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration and ACIG.
