ESCAP Business Advisory Council Member States Assembled in Bangkok

Bangkok hosted the ninth assembly of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific Business Advisory Council (EBAC) on 19 May 2015. The work plan for 2015, participation of EBAC in promotion of the Commission policy, membership and engagement of new members were discussed there. Viktor Tolmachev, Chair of the Supervisory Board of ACIG; Aleksey Bondarenko, Member of the Supervisory Board of ACIG; Mikhail Prokudin, Head of the Directorate for International Affairs at ACIG, were among the participants in the Russian delegation.

EBAC activities are aimed at promotion of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, socially responsible business concept for engaging the resources of business communities for development of the social and economic fields. Task forces of EBAC discussed their activities before the session. The Russian delegation participated in the session of the Task Force on MSME's & Entrepreneurship in Business Development where they talked about the issues related to shaping the long-term program of socially responsible business in this region, creating conditions for development of small and medium enterprises and the action plan for implementation of the plans; they discussed the reports of the task forces based on the results of the past sessions, preparation for the Asia-Pacific Business Forum 2015, determined the date and the venue for the tenth session of EBAC. ESCAP department for social development presented the UN program for promotion of women in business.

ESCAP Business Advisory Council was established in 2004 in Shanghai. It comprises leaders and representatives of leading companies in different industries in the Asia-Pacific region. Mr. Tolmachev of ACIG was included into EBAC as a representative of the Russian Federation as advised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
