10th UN ESCAP Business Advisory Council Meeting Takes Place in Bangkok

A meeting of the Business Council of Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific of the United Nations (UN ESCAP) took place in Bangkok in early November. During the meeting, ESCAP member countries discussed a working plan for 2017. Russia was represented in Business Council by Mikhail Prokudin, Head of the Division for International Relations at ACIG Group of Companies.

The key outcome of the meeting of the Business Council was the decision to hold the Asia and the Pacific Business Forum (APBF). The event is scheduled for February 7-9th, 2017 in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. The Bangladesh International Chamber of Commerce is to host the event. It is planned to implement a full range of discussion sessions in the context of the forum, starting with Working Groups for Sustainable Business Network (SBN).

Recall that ACIG Group of Companies has been working in the ESCAP Business Council since November 2014. Chairman of the Supervisory Board at ACIG Group of Companies, Victor Tolmachev is the sole representative from Russia in Business Advisory Council and a member of the Working Group on Task Force MSME.

Note: The ESCAP Business Advisory Council was established in 2004 in Shanghai, China. It consists of heads and representatives of the leading companies in various industries and sectors of the Asia-Pacific region. The ESCAP Business Advisory Council promotes ideas of the United Nations, as the concept of aims for sustainable development and the concept of socially responsible business, which provides resources to attract business communities for the development of the socio-economic sphere. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Victor Tolmachev, Chairman of the Supervisory Board at ACIG Group of Companies, was included in the UNESCAP Business Council as a representative of the Russian Federation.
