ACIG Group of Companies joins the UN Global Compact

On April 4 of this year, His Excellency, Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, following the consideration of the application submitted by the Chairman of the ACIG Supervisory Board Viktor Tolmachev, decided to recognize ACIG Group of Companies as a partner within the UN Global Compact initiative.

Emphasizing the importance of this decision, the Chairman of the ACIG Supervisory Board Viktor Tolmachev noted:

Never in history have the goals of the international community and the global business community been so close. Common goals, such as establishing sustainable markets, combating corruption, protecting human rights and environment, give rise to a new level of partnership and openness in relationship between businesses, civil society, trade unions, governments, the UN and other stakeholders.

This new spirit of cooperation rests upon the belief that globalization, given that it is based on the universal principles, can dramatically improve our world, bringing economic and social benefits to individuals, communities and markets everywhere on the globe. Immediate actions need to be taken. Poverty, income inequalities, protectionism and lack of chances for a decent job pose a serious threat to international peace and global markets.

Being a primary driver of globalization, business can become a powerful positive force. Through its commitment to the ideals of corporate citizenship and the principles of the UN Global Compact, ACIG Group of Companies will continue to establish and spread the value systems in the broadest sense.

Reference:

The UN Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. Being the largest global initiative for consolidating responsible corporate citizenship in the world, with thousands of participants from more than 100 countries, the Global Compact sets itself a primary task of ensuring social legitimacy of businesses and markets. By joining to the Global Compact, companies declare their commitment to the belief that business practice based on universal principles facilitates greater sustainability, equity and representativeness of the global market and favors shaping booming and prosperous societies. As for the Russian Federation, only about 30 companies enjoy the status of Partners for the UN Global Compact Dialogue, among them Rosneft, Gazprom, Lukoil etc.
