Chairman of the ACIG Supervisory Board Viktor Tolmachev takes part in the Interregional Forum "Russia - Azerbaijan: Interregional Dialogue-2013"

On June 5-6, 2013, the city of Volgograd hosted the 4th Russian-Azerbaijan Forum "Russia - Azerbaijan: Interregional Dialogue-2013" organized by "The Institute of Eurasian Studies" Development Foundation and the Government of the Volgograd Region under the auspices of the Executive Office of the President of the Russian Federation and the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The representatives of Azerbaijan’s and Russia’s central and regional authorities, businesses and non-governmental organizations took part in the Forum. The Chairman of the ACIG Supervisory Board Viktor Tolmachev presented his report within the framework of the strategic partnership with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of the Russian Federation.

In his speech, Mr. Tolmachev noted that the Forum "Russia - Azerbaijan: Interregional Dialogue-2013" was aimed at promoting development of cooperation between the states in economic, scientific, technological and social spheres, as well as further expansion of the existing links. "An energy agreement between the governments of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan will contribute to a deeper integration of Russian companies into Azerbaijan’s economy", he added.

The program of the Forum included a plenary session, a series of roundtables and an interregional exhibition. The key topics for discussion were the current state and the outlook for development of the bilateral interregional cooperation, development of the countries’ cooperation in energy sector and transport communications, economic cooperation and stability in the Caspian region.

Delivery of the Agreement on Measures Facilitating the Parallel Work of the United Energy System of the Russian Federation and the Energy System of the Republic of Azerbaijan was the most significant event of the Forum.
