On November 17-19, 2012, ACIG participates in the working meeting with representatives of Tajikistan energy sector

On November 17 – 19, in the cities Nurek and Dushanbe of the Republic of Tajikistan, ACIG representatives participated in several meetings, dedicated to the construction projects of small and medium Hydro Power Plants on the rivers Zarafshon, Fondarya and Khingov at the invitation of the receiving party.

The meetings were held within the framework of the agreements reached during the official visit of the Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin to the Republic of Tajikistan and the Memorandum of Cooperation in the energy sector between the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Energy and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan, signed during his visit.

During the discussions, the participants focused on organizing research works on feasibility studies and assessment of the projects’ ecological and social impact.

In their reports, ACIG representatives noted great significance of the initiated projects for social and economic development of the Republic of Tajikistan and expressed their willingness to provide cooperation in unlocking its hydroelectric potential and practical implementation of regional energy projects connected with enhancing energy efficiency of the country’s economy. Thereby, modernization of the existing Hydro Power Plants and construction of the new ones are one of the priority tasks of the country’s administration on its way to sustainable development and enhancing energy security.
